Hey you lovelies, I've been getting some questions recently about the price change and new T-shirts. I completely understand the confusion especially from patrons so figured I should address the issue in this post.
Why are your prices in USD?
Most of my customers online are from the US so it would make most sense to have the pricing in USD for convenience sake. That doesn't mean someone else from another country cannot make a purchase though. Paypal will automatically convert the prices to your currency on its checkout page.
Why did the pricing change?
I'm using a third-party printer and shipper for my t-shirts and possibly my phonecases soon so I would have more time to churn out new designs. For the regulars, you would know that I use to only open Angstchild once a month because I struggle to pack and ship out orders (even with help). It would take weeks to completely clear both available orders and pre-orders. That would leave me with only one or two days to design something. A regular person cannot get creative with such limited time. This change is for the better because I'm not going to subject myself to frequent sleepless nights and you to subpar designs that I make in a rush. I understand the change in prices is disappointing but it's necessary as everything prints on demand only and ships out via a third party provider. I've made the pricing as low as possible without compromising quality and efficiency. Rest assure I'm not overcharging anyone on this. The T-shirt blanks that I use now are also a factor in the price change.
So what are the difference between Regular, American Apparel and American Apparel Organic T-shirts?
Regular T-shirts are printed on Bella Canvas blank T-shirts. I chose this as the standard because their T-shirts have great cutting, are lightweight and are extremely soft. Perfect for a day out in the sun. Most importantly, they are sweatshop-free and have sustainable business practises. These are obviously very important because you don't want the T-shirts you wear to be someone else's hell. Sweatshops are a no-no in my book.
The second option is American Apparel. Their shirts are known to be of extremely good cutting and quality. I was kind of skeptical to work with AA after their CEO controversy but they have since appointed a new head and are changing the way the work so I feel more at ease now. They have also always made sure that their workers get fair wages. Read this for more info. I would recommend this shirt if you want a more premium and sturdy t-shirt that will last you for years to come.
Last option, the American Apparel Organic, is the one that I will personally purchase for myself. Coupled with the benefits of being AA they are also made from organic cotton. Organic cotton have way less impact on the environment and are pesticide free so it is perfect for people with sensitive skin. Read this for more info.
What printing methods do you use for your T-shirts and Sweatshirts?
Direct to Garment is used for all the T-shirts on this website. The inks used in DTG printing are generally water based, pigmented inks that are naturally sourced and environmentally friendly. Unlike screen printing, they do not require a ton of water to print your T-shirts.
Why did you choose a US company to work with?
The company I work with in the US are eco-conscious and is the only company that provides me with what I need. Because majority of the customers are located in the US, shipping would take a shorter time. They ship pretty fast for international packages too. I'm residing in Singapore and their packages always reach me in 5-7days after dispatch. Of course, your local customs and geological location will factor and they may not reach you at the same speed. You can view the shipping page for an estimated shipping time.
What about your rack at Space Invasion Singapore?
The products there are only subjected to a 7% GST charge but will be priced as per usual. The reason is because Space Invasion products are all printed locally so there is zero handling fee in transit and are not subjected to shipping charges.
Thanks for reading guys, I hope this clears up the confusion! If you have anymore questions please comment below. I'll try to update this blogpost with the answers. Know that without any of you I wouldn't be here so thank you for the support as always <3
